One comment I have, from my other forums (fora?) that I frequent, is that having a "For Sale" section, can, in some modern internet way, lead to the forum owner being held liable, if fraud/theft occurs.

A number of places have ended up with rules along the lines of you can only list items for sale, that are listed on Ebay, and you must link directly to that ebay listing, so you are advertising the item for sale, not actually facilitating the transaction itself. Admittedly those other forums are for PA and DJ equipment, which is easily "fenced" down your local hostelry of choice, I doubt the same goes for a Laser or Merlin hull.

Before plunging in, might be worth just checking exactly the liability of any fraudulent sale and its subsequent repercussion. Theft is bad enough, but to find out the club is also held liable in some way, would be really nasty.

But in principle, yes, very often a healthy For Sale section can assist the forum in attracting repeat viewers, and potentially new members.

Just my 2p.

Hi Roberto,

I like the idea of a FG for-sale area, but I'm not sure this forum is getting much attention. I tend to use the following Facebook groups for this:

1. Dinghies and Dinghy Bits for Sale - www.facebook.com/groups/dinghies - Very active with stuff from all over the country.
2. Dinghies and Dinghy Bits for Sale Essex - www.facebook.com/groups/1405414506378487 - Less active, but local.

Maybe we could consider creating a FG Facebook page that includes a for-sale section. Bit of a departure from this forum, but would probably get more active users.

Cheers,
Bill
